Getting Started in C&C: Being a Pirate

This guide has comprehensive steps to understanding each key reward and farming mechanic in Captain & Company as of today. It’s written with individual player types in mind, so choose the adventure below that best suits yer fancy!

1. Blast Basics
Blast is a new Layer 2 on Ethereum that soared to one of the highest total value locked (TVL) marks in all of web3 within just months of launching. Blast has an ongoing airdrop program where they distribute their $BLAST tokens to ecosystem participants. $BLAST is distributed according to the number of Blast Points and Blast Gold you have. Blast Gold is worth thousands of times more than Blast Points, and is the reward you’ll be earning by playing Captain & Company.
To earn Blast Gold that will convert to $BLAST inside of Captain & Company, you can complete in-game quests, win PvP tournaments, or participate in special one-time events.
Actions to Take
To be able to receive Blast Gold and convert it into $BLAST tokens for playing Captain & Company, you’ll need to sign up using a referral code, here.
You should also sign up for an account on kap.gg and sync your wallet on kap.gg/profile and set it to primary to receive Blast Gold and other rewards.
2. Captain & Company Game Modes
There are two principal gameplay types in Captain & Company: (1) co-op realtime naval battles and (2) idle pirate management missions. You can earn rewards by playing either.
The co-op naval battles are either PvP or PvE and are played directly in the game client, which you can find here. You’ll complete quests that are visible both in-game in your ESC menu options, or on your kap.gg/profile page under Quests. Those quests grant mBLAST, which then converts into Blast Gold every few weeks.
The idle pirate management game is played on kap.gg/profile and requires you to own NFT ships or Skellies and to send them out on adventures to automatically harvest mBLAST. These idle missions all have variable exciting dangers and your ships come equipped with various perks to deal with them, all of which can be rerolled using the in-game premium currency, nuggies.

To participate in the co-op naval battles, you can either:

3. Play to Earn, No NFTs Required
You can get started earning in Captain & Company without any purchases, just hop right in on our downloads page and complete quests to earn mBLAST!
To maximize your play to earn (P2E) earnings, you’ll also want to join an in-game guild. Guilds are completely free and come with no strings attached, but being in a guild automatically qualifies you to enter both PvE and PvP tournaments, both of which come with even more rewards — plus you’ll have guildmates to call on when you need extra crew.
When you’ve got your sea legs and you’re ready to earn more, you can pick up a Pirate’s Pass, which will enable you to hold an uncapped amount of mBLAST and cash out other NFTs and web3 rewards down the line. Pirate’s Passes can be purchased in-game for 200,000 nuggies, or are frequently handed out for free by guilds who are recruiting in the Discord or in giveaways on the Captain & Company Twitter. The fastest way to get one for free is to hang around in the Discord and ask!
Actions to Take
Get started for free at capnco.gg/download. You’ll start earning mBLAST and web3 rewards immediately!
Join a guild as soon as you hop in! If you have friends in an existing guild, ask them to send you their guild code and you can input it here. Don’t worry, you can switch guilds at any time.
Complete quests in your quest log (ESC menu in-game) or on kap.gg/profile to earn mBLAST and land crystals. Make sure you sync a primary wallet in the Wallets tab on kap.gg/profile to be eligible to receive your Blast Gold airdrops.
mBLAST converts to Blast Gold every few weeks, and Blast Gold converts to $BLAST tokens at the end of the Phase 2 airdrop. Land crystals will convert to land NFTs inside of Captain & Company.
If you are not an NFT shipholder or do not have a Pirate’s Pass, the maximum mBLAST you can hold at any time is 500,000. To access uncapped web3 earnings, you need to purchase a Pirate’s Pass, which can be done with 200,000 nuggies on kap.gg/profile in the Currencies tab.
If you have a code from a giveaway or your Guild, use the Redeem tab.

4. Harvest Gold Without Playing
If you’re more interested in holding NFTs and allowing other players to use those NFTs to generate you yield, then owning a guild and becoming an Admiral might be for you!
The in-game guild system in Captain & Company allows other players to use your NFTs, and, as they complete objectives, they’ll generate bonus rewards that go straight to your guild. The yield from those bonuses is then distributed amongst all shipholders in a guild, pro rata with their shares of total ships.
If you don’t want to create a guild, choose “Join a Guild” on the menu shown below, and you’ll automatically receive your yield from the guild you’ve joined proportional to the number of ships you’re holding, as long as those players in the guild are playing.
Actions to Take
To begin, you’ll need to purchase ships on OpenSea or Blur and create an account on kap.gg/profile and Blast.
Then head to kap.gg/profile and click Wallets to sync the wallet with your ships. While you’re here, click “Make Primary” to designate the wallet you want to receive Blast Gold and other rewards in.
Then head to kap.gg/profile and click Guild to begin guild creation.
You’ll create a guild flag which will be visible in-game, and decide whether or not you want Auto-Join enabled, which will allow any users to join your guild automatically, else, you have to approve each joiner.
Once your guild is created, advertise in our Discord and other popular P2E community locations to invite players to join you. Players find your guild under the Guild tab of kap.gg/profile. You then press Accept under the Requests tab on players that you like.
As players play the bonus yield from their in-game rewards will be sent to your Guild Treasury. Your Guild Treasury is then split out to you and all other shipholders in your guild on a pro rata basis daily at 4 PM UTC reset.
Invite as many players as you can and watch the yield climb as they utilize your assets! You’ll simultaneously farm Captain & Company rewards and in-game loot, Blast Gold, and other potential partner rewards in the future.
5. Player-Owned Ports: Idle Missions
NFT holders also have the ability to generate yield idly by sending their ships or Skellies on missions. Ships can still be played by players in-game while on missions.
Each mission has three Dangers associated with it. You can counter these dangers by rerolling Perks, each of which counters a number of associated Dangers. As Dangers are countered, your probability of success on the mission increases. Rerolling perks costs Nuggies.
Actions to Take
To begin, you’ll need to purchase ships on OpenSea or Blur and create an account on kap.gg/profile and Blast.
Then head to kap.gg/profile and click Wallets to sync the wallet with your ships. While you’re here, click “Make Primary” to designate the wallet you want to receive Blast Gold and other rewards in.
Next, navigate to the Port tab. Your ships should be displayed. Note that ships only are eligible for missions if they’ve been in your synced wallet and unlisted for 24 hours.
On the right side, you’ll see the Dangers associated with the mission. Grayed out dangers are those that are mitigated by your current Perks. You can reroll all of your Perks for a chance at improving your danger mitigation and success.
When missions finished, they’ll be displayed both in your Points History tab on kap.gg/profile as well as in a new mission completion ledger we’ll be adding. You can earn mBLAST which converts to Blast Gold, as well as native ecosystem rewards.
6. Tournaments for Gold
If competition and dominating other players is your thing, join a guild and help them climb to the top of the leaderboards for your cut of huge gold piles!
Captain & Company features both PvE and PvP style tournaments. In PvP style tournaments, the objective will be to raise your MMR as high as possible. In PvE style tournaments, the objective might be to earn as many kills or points as possible.
At 4 PM UTC each day (except the day after a tournament finishes), your PvE or PvP progress is used to reward you and your guild with Skulls. Those Skulls are then tracked on Shards.tech and the winning guilds receive big chunks of Blast Gold.
Actions to Take
Head to the Merchant in-game at the docks and send in an application to a Guild (or a few) that you like. The Guild owner may need to approve your application, so join our Discord and ask around for PvP guilds if you want to expedite the process.
Complete in-game objectives and climb as high as you can on the leaderboards. You can see your status versus other players on the Leaderboards tab in kap.gg/profile.
Each day at 4 PM UTC (except for the day after a tournament ends), you’ll receive Skulls in relation to your progress. Those Skulls are attributed to your guild, and you get credit for generating them.
When the tournament ends, the top guilds each split a massive prize pool of gold. 20% of the gold earned goes to the shipholders, and 10% goes to the Fraction holders. The amount left over is split out to all Skulls-producing guild members pro rata with their amount of Skulls.
If you’d like to speculate on the outcome of a tournament, the Shards platform automatically distributes 10% of winning guilds’ prize pools to “Fraction holders.” You can purchase Fractions of guilds as they compete on Shards.tech.
Your Blast Gold from winning tournaments will then be credited directly to your Primary Wallet set in the Wallets section of your kap.gg/profile.
Concluding Remarks
There are tons of ways to get involved in Captain & Company and there’s a way for everyone to earn! Guilds are a hugely exciting way to team with your friends and meet new pirate souls to go on epic pillages with. Over the next few months we’re preparing for a major new game mode release and economic expansion that will continue to build on group cooperative play and Guilds, so we encourage players to get involved early.

FAQ
What are Land Crystals?
Land Crystals are native rewards in Captain & Company that will convert into the very first pieces of playable land in the game at a later date.
What are nuggies?
Nuggies are an in-game premium currency that are purchaseable with KAP, ETH or stablecoins. Nuggies can be withdrawn by verified users into $KAP on the Blast chain. You can purchase nuggies, withdraw nuggies, and verify your account on kap.gg/profile.
What is mBLAST?
mBLAST is a points system in Captain & Company that converts to Blast Gold periodically. Blast Gold then converts into $BLAST on the schedule set out by the Blast Foundation.
What are Skulls?
Skulls are PvP points for guild tournaments in Captain & Company. You earn Skulls each day that you have MMR over a certain threshold, and those Skulls are credited to both you and your guild. Skulls are reset at the end of each tournament, and cannot be earned for 48hr after a tournament ends.
